Generative Summary

Continuing deeper into the jungle, the party exchanged campfire stories during their watches. On the third night, Nakuji Nabunae confided in Meng that he had been sent through a dimensional portal sixty years ago—his wife and child murdered in a raid, his oligarchic government hunting him ever since. He had spent those decades forging swords and training, waiting for the chance to return and take his revenge. That same night, Octavious and Kunaq made a breakthrough with Zolbarr Fiddlesworth’s Pocketwatch—the dials spun free and Octavious discovered a cipher encoded in symbols along the outer ring, though its meaning remained out of reach. Meanwhile, Nakuji Nabunae dreamed of the man he had failed to kill—finely dressed and smiling—before the dream dissolved into a portal and the sensation of hurtling through space alongside a second, formless traveler.

On Day 4, the party reached a deep chasm whose bridge had been cut from the other side. As Nakuji Nabunae made his move to jump across, the reanimated corpse of the Coeurl they had slain the night before burst from the undergrowth—leading to the Battle with Undead Coeurl. Afterward, Kunaq found the cause: fine light-green plant roots had grown along the creature’s spine, reanimating it—plant-based, not fungal. They burned the growth, then crossed the flooded chasm—fed by a nearby Portal of Water—and found Sun Elf Child Karia hiding in the brush. Armed with a knife and palm fire, she spoke no language they knew but communicated through gestures, guiding Nakuji Nabunae to cut the remaining rope bridge to keep soldiers from crossing. That night M’Baku bonded with Karia through drawings—she reminded him of a girl from his tribe named Cephu—while Meng dreamed of a tall Firbolg named Leo Tkar, sent by her contact Akaru, who urged her to face the lingering effects of the opened tome rather than flee them, and warned that Akaru had been attacked. By morning, Nakuji Nabunae had finished adapting Ramdath’s Ornate Gauntlets for M’Baku, and Octavious recognized hollow tree stumps as matching Zolbarr Fiddlesworth’s cannon blueprints—the party leveled up to 3.

Day 3

  • We see a baboon, lots of birds
  • Nakuji Nabunae has difficulty working with Ramdath’s Ornate Gauntlets due to the ornate filigree
  • We hear guttural screeching sound in the afternoon
  • We decide to travel at a faster pace and find a rocky crag as it’s getting dark. We break camp
  • Meng and Nakuji Nabunae take first watch.
    • They don’t hear anything or see anything
    • Meng: “Why do they call you the ageless one?”
    • Nakuji Nabunae: I was sent through one of those portals 60 years ago, I needed an out. My body reacts differently in this dimension. I was 40 years.
    • Meng: are you allowed to return?
    • Nakuji: Let’s just say my government and I did getting along?
    • Meng: Why wouldn’t you go back?
    • Nakuji: Wife and child were killed on a raid on our home. Oligarchy put out a hit on me. I want revenge when I go back.
    • Meng: What have you been doing for the last 60 years?
    • Nakuji: Making swords, training
    • Meng: Did you get to bury them?
    • Nakuji: No, they captured me, and then there was a portal
  • Kunaq and Octavious take second watch.
    • O fiddles with Zolbarr Fiddlesworth’s Pocketwatch
      • Something unlocks and the dials spin a lot
    • O: K, you wouldn’t understand
    • K: It’s probably a cypher
    • O: Oh, there are symbols on the radial frame of the watch
    • Octavious memorizes the cipher, but can’t decipher it
    • O: K, does your alphabet make any sense of this?
    • K: Alphabet? (explains his Kiupu to Octavious)
    • Nakuji Nabunae has dreams of the man he intended to kill, but couldn’t
      • The man wears a short cape, filigree, fine clothing
      • He smiles at Nakuji, then rim light surrounds the man and Nakuji is then careening through space. He feels panic and rage.
        • He sees another formless being traveling, vaguely human, through space with him, that he now remembers
  • M’Baku and Kunaq take the third watch
    • Drizzle
    • We don’t hear anything…
    • M is thinking about the Battle with Coeurl the day before and how he was beaten by an untrained beast

Day 4

  • We see the morning sunrise to the east

  • We are not far away from the Jungle Village attacked by corpses

  • Nakuji Nabunae is working

  • Set a fast pace again

  • We get to a chasm 60 ft across, 50ft deep. There used to be a bridge

  • Looks like the bridge was cut by people on the other side. It’s still attached on this side.

  • Nakuji Nabunae “sees” (9) a baboon

  • Nakuji climbs down then attempts to step of the wind jump up

  • The rest of the party readies an action

  • A large beast - no, the dead and lifeless Coeurl charges out of the bush!

  • Battle with Undead Coeurl

    • Nakuji sees a girl hiding in a bush on the other side of the bridge

  • Kunaq investigates the Undead Coeurl

    • He notices where the nerve system would be along the spinal cord, there seems to be something that has grown in its place, not part of the nervous system but is something else. This is a plant-based material/creature, similar to the Last of Us, but it’s not a fungus, it’s plant-based. Looks like little plant roots, like a light lime green.
      • If we burn it, the plant based part will be dead dead. We burn it.

  • We hear another noise, a deluge of water going through the chasm that raises it 30ft up.

  • She has a knife, speaks a language none of us understand. She has pointy ears. She is a Sun Elf Child

    • We give her food, she eats it. Puts away the knife
    • I show her my Mirror steel and she seems interested in her appearance
    • Kunaq shows her his ears as well.
    • Octavious picks up a stone - she immediately produces fire in her hand - and he makes the stone glow
    • We indicate we’re looking for soldiers. She points to Nakuji Nabunae with a mistrustful look
    • We suggest we are not with the soldiers
    • She suggests to cut the rope bridge so soldiers can’t walk across. Nakuji Nabunae asks for her knife and then cuts the bridge.
    • She says “Karia” - her name. We share our names
    • We set up camp.
    • She also has a wire and bell like Octavious. She sets hers up down on the path
    • Karia reminds M’Baku of another girl from his tribe - spunk and intellect to survive on her own. Reminds him of a Minotaur of Wilder girl called Cephu. Could get her into dangerous situations if she wasn’t careful. Sees the same possibility in Sun Elf Child Karia

  • Meng had to roll a wisdom saving throw as she sleeps. She has a dream…

    • He realizes he could make these canons out of wood, or even with metal if he had a forge.

And a good campsite. And maybe a food or water. All right. So? Um. Nothing is initially sticking out to you, is like a water source. As far as food goes like, there’s plenty of animals around. Like, if you wanted to. Every now and then, you spot a baboon. Um, in the trees.

Yes, and lots of lots of birds. In fact, like the jungle in itself is just kind of like a cacophony of birds. In the daytime, so?

So? I mean, if if you wanted to, if you wanted to hunt or have somebody else hunt, you could maybe gather some meat. If you’d like to do that. Everybody that ration is forgetting that they already had rations. And four. Let the spread. Yeah, make some. You make some Headway, not as much as you would like.

Um. The gauntlets themselves are very like. Ornamental, like? They’ve got filligree and stuff that almost looks kind of like welded on almost that, like. Gives it like ridges and stuff. Um, very fancy. So, it’s kind of difficult to like. Flex it to a size that would fit him without, like, also.

Damaging a lot of that filigree, so you’re trying to be careful and delicate as best you can. Um. But. If you have a good day, you could probably finish in another another day. All right. Um. I’ll see you, let’s see. It’s a top of Tuesday for yourself. I ate a little bit fucking.

Now, with that bar, you’re looking anywhere on the watch that would have any kind of give that you could put that metal bar back in. And, like, a different spot. Um, eventually, you, do you find one and you’re able to, like, twist it?

Um. As you do suddenly, you twist it in something snacks into place and the watch you see as the faces of the watch start twirling and spinning around in a weird way. That continuously. Not like, continuously like they’ll stop, and they’ll like dial back and like, go again, and then they’ll like, it’s kind of like Twitchy.

Circomplish. I try to point it around, see if it changes. It does not change when you move it around. Is this guy still dark?

Does it settle or does it just keep on spinning? Hmm, does it settle, or does it keep on spinning? Hey, keeps on spinning, and then eventually. Um, depending on how long you wait, it will just kind of like, stop, and return normal.
